Home School Mentor Program - Signature Offering

Minimum of 4 one to one sessions $280

As a Therapeutic Life Coach and home Educating mother I can be your own Big Sister or favourite Aunty who gives advice and support to guide you through the personal growth that comes with taking a different journey from a majority of our population.
However, you choose to look at them, your Mentor is someone who shares valuable wisdom and experiences with you in a way that helps you succeed on your own homeschool journey.

Even though it’s okay to be friends with this person, your relationship with a homeschool mentor is different than just a supportive friendship (though those friendships are important as well).

You will be challenged and supported and be fully empowered as a Home educating family.

What does mentor mean? (noun) an experienced and trusted advisor.
Mentoring (verb) advise and train someone.

Deschooling & Healing School Wounds

The stats are quite horrific around school wounds, or trauma is another way to refer to it as.

Not many folks get through 10+ years of school with out some issue.
It is not fair to bring your own issues into you Home School, especially when they can be healed.

This series of sessions are designed to heal your past to excel into the future with no residual issues interfering with the joyful life you want for your family.

Deschooling is often the tip of the iceberg. We like to look at our upbringing through rose tinted glasses. But if you are honest with yourself, how good was it?

Deschooling is important aspect to home schooling as we need to decolonize our minds around what learning looks like.

Some will need extra help to truly understand how this happens.

The sessions are designed for each individual and a minimum of 3 is required. This is a great support to the Deschool to Bring Flow and Natural Learning to your Home program.

I utilise different modalities to assist healing and self care. Online sessions or in person are available if you are located in North East Victoria and Southern NSW

What is Home schooling really about?

all kids at water fall

This is what Home Schooling looks like in my family. Many trips away, visiting family and friends. Spending quality time exploring in a conscious and authentic manner so we may expand ourselves and learn about our environment.

What is Home Schooling really about for my family and I?

It is probably the most important aspect to living.

Life has changed dramatically over the years with technology giving us so much.

But what seems to be happening is parents don't know themselves anymore and try to live up to philosophies and ideas as though they are a script! Or an Instagram reel! Or a You Tube Stream!

Follow the steps, follow the script, plan the stream and all will be OK.
But is it?

That ability to know ourselves and think for ourselves.
What are the values and goals you have as an authentic soul?
What about your children?

Understand that not all scripts suit everyone. We are not a perfect snippet of life that is shown on social media or a well produced and supported live stream.
Sure, its OK to have a overview of what you want, but to have it all planned, written for us? What about the bloopers, the stuff ups? The real stuff?
Where does that all come into it?

It is something to think about especially, because honestly we are humans learning and living in a real life and when our children challenge us, where is the script then? Does it work even?
When do we get to just be?
Just exist in all our glory, our mess, our exploration, joy and sadness. When do we get to live and experience being a parent and carer and learn to reconnect with our authentic self?

So kids are being forced into formal education earlier and earlier so the parents can go out and work.
You know, following the script, living up to the unrealistic Insta Reels, the TikToks.
But why cant we just enjoy that short time with our kids?
Isn't growing and guiding a child just as valuable if not more valuable as those Live Streams, all scripted and produced?

I say this because I often believe that our culture is forcing us away from authentic parenting and into a cookie cutter approach. We are made to feel guilty into going back to work, by having a career.
And made to feel guilty if we dont!

Child care and preschools are useful tools to have access to, but they are not all there is.

We can choose alternatives.
And frankly we need to know what our choices are.

Why we home school.

My husband and myself decided early on that if we were blessed with children that we would raise them ourselves and not be dependent on child care, that meant we had to live within our means of 1 full time income. We were both willing to work or stay home or do a combination of both, at this stage we did not consider education because we didn't even have kids! But we had established values around child rearing.

Once the kids arrived and I was studying a Diploma in Children Services my studies led me to many educational theorists and it became apparent that children were not wired to learn by sitting down, staying still and being micromanaged at such an early age. It was important for a child's development that they move their little bodies as much as they needed. School did not appear to honour this, well frankly they couldn't. Imagine managing a class or 25 children, you have to 'control' them somehow. (much respect to teachers)

So I embarked on research into alternatives to Main stream education. I was introduced to Dr Maria Montessori,  Reggio Emilia, Waldorf Steiner and Home education. What became apparent was that the main difference between main stream education and these was the alternatives were child centered. They approached education in a holistic manner and respected the children as individuals who had the ability to learn if given the right environment.

Where we lived their were no alternatives to the main stream, so I reached out the local home school community and was pleasantly surprised.

There were a lot, so many more than I thought and so diverse. And again a majority I had met were child focused. They respected their children and believed they could learn and thrive if given the correct environment. What better place to learn than your own home, the first place you learnt so much! As an infant, a toddler and preschooler it is where you learn first.

So why stop when we were on to such a good thing. And besides, school was going no where, it is always an option but I am so grateful that I knew I had choices, I had the choice to send them to school or legally home educate, and its not hard and I can show you how.

So this is how we continued to home educate  7 years on, and boy have I learnt a lot!

Deschool to Bring Natural Learning & Flow to your Home.

Deschooling is the only way to live school free successfully. It is the process of exploring, and eventually banishing the fears and doubts that surround us, living in a school focused society.

Kids that have attended school are used to being herded from activity to activity, they’re used to being micro-managed. They may become stressed that they aren’t learning enough, and fearful that they will become “stupid” compared to their schooled peers. Deschooling children need plenty of support.
Adults can only provide that if they themselves are working to deschool.
If you’re not actively working to deschool, you could end up causing more stress for your child.

Deschooling gives space to take back our freedom, to foster lost relationships, values and connections, and to re imagine what our own life can be.

This program is 8 weeks long where you receive a personalised assessment via video conference and followup emails and workbook and final personal video session towards the end of 8 weeks.

It’s such a joy to be home with my children, to have the opportunity to really know them and what they are learning, and to help facilitate thier learning in ways that work best for each of them. – Wendy Woerner

I think this was wise; the greatest service we can to education today is to teach few subjects. No one has time to do more than a very few things well before he is twenty, and when we force a boy to be a mediocrity in a dozen subjects we destroy his standards, perhaps for life.” ~ C.S Lewis
